1. Three days ago I locked myself out of the house and was horrified because I found an unlocked window to crawl in. Horrified because I am very safety conscious. But also glad, even though I was wearing a sundress and had to hike it up to do the crawling in. The street full of cars got an eyeful. I was not happy about that eyeful.
2. Two days ago I locked myself out of the house and was horrified to find I had securely locked all the windows this time, against the dreadful/relieving findings of the day before. This day I had to hail a lady in the street and ask if she knew my landlord. She knew his cousin, and took me to her own house to look up his number. The number turned out to be wrong, and she was so nice she took me to the general store, where the proprietor called everyone he knew to try to find someone who could find my not-home landlord. I started to walk the sweaty mile back to my house when who should pull up beside me on the road but my landlord’s father, who drove me the rest of the way and rescued me with his own key to my house.
3. My dogs keep making tiny breaks for it under the fence around the yard and so I got the bright idea to block that part of the fence with a lot of bricks. I went to the hardware store to buy a lot of bricks. My landlord’s father was there, getting a new key made. For me. For my house. So I can quit getting locked out by my own hand.
4. I am in a very nice town.
