Here is the new blog post I said I would do on account of having a NEW WEBSITE! Crackle! Pop! Whee! I love this new website very much and besides, posting more is a resolution of mine, along with cookie-eating and wearing all of my pajamas very often.* This new site makes me very happy and feels like me and like it is welcoming to all of you, which is even more important. Having a lovely website makes me want to come here more often, too; hence the resolution to post more. The picture of cookies on the homepage will help with the second resolution. The pajama-wearing will take tough self-discipline.
Lots of lovely things have happened in the million years since I last posted: I visited my sister and her family for Christmas and it was magical. I had my left shoulder operated on shortly before this visit so I spent most of it sleeping off both the anesthesia and the backhoe-load of sugar I consumed in those few hours in which I was awake, frankly, but it was a lovely trip nonetheless.**
Lovely things two and three are my next books coming out. The second Smashie book, Smashie McPerter and the Mystery of the Missing Goop, will be out in the Fall. My next YA, as yet untitled because you know how I am about titles***** will be out sometime, too.
Lovely things four through six are my dogs, of course. They are secretly hidden on this website—not just on my bio page. This makes me feel like I have hidden treasures here. Perhaps there will be more hidden treasures in the future. I shall say no more.
That is all for this first post. I am rusty, plus I don’t have any shoulders. I raise a cookie to you all and will be back soon!
*Do I mean one pair at a time, or all at once? One can’t know. But it is winter, after all. And I work from home a lot, where pajamas are de rigeur, so wearing all of them at once would be both de rigeurer and make me feel like a gingerbread woman in shape besides. Cf cookies above! Decision made. All pajamas at once.
** Those of you keeping count will realize this is the second shoulder I had operated on in 2015, which brings the total of my shoulders having been operated on in 2015 to all of them. You might wonder how I type. The answer is: hunchy.***
***The first shoulder injury was boring and partially involved me inventing a new way to sleep. The second one was exciting and also hilarious—- me falling down the stairs with a suitcase the day we flew to France— which turned out to be a wonderful trip regardless.**** We ate a lot of things and walked around for miles and looked at much architecture and art, which is all I ask of a trip. The shoulder was but a hurty inconvenience.
**** The trip to France, not the one down the stairs. I have not really forgiven that staircase. I mean, really–stairs should keep people on them, not hurl them off at speed.
***** Bad at them.
